Residence internet, redefined

We design, equip, and operate the smart-building networks for Canada’s most recognized purpose-built student- and senior housing property owners and managers.

RadiusOne is an advanced technology internet solutions provider serving the purpose-built student housing and senior living property managers and owners.

Our Residence Access Management Platform (RAMP) and Unified Network Backbone service provide a solid platform and infrastructure framework, enabling RadiusOne to offer fast, low-latency WiFi throughout a property, managed IoT networking for building automation, and ‘resident aware’ phone systems and reporting for your management office.

Specialized Expertise.

Student Housing Apartments

For today's student resident, fast, low-latency WiFi is much more than playing games, streaming 4K movies, and video calls with friends: their higher education experience and part-time employment has moved online, almost overnight.

Building a resident internet service that respects the resident requires a specialized approach. Foremost, the WiFi network must be designed with fast, reliable network equipment; it should not require an app; it should be supported by friendly, resident tech support advisors who won't condescend or dismiss a resident asking for help; and it should measure resident satisfaction by asking residents directly to ensure the residence’s internet service has met each Resident’s expectations.

Senior Living

Grandma’s doctor meets with her from the comfort of her living room chair; later that day she video chats with her grandkids who are unable to visit in person.

Whether it’s a health check-up from home or maintaining loving bonds with grandkids, the demand for robust internet has increased rapidly over the past few months, leaving property managers to wonder: “can the WiFi service I offer my residents keep up with the demand?”

Smart Building + IoT

An AC unit that doesn’t turn on if a resident has their window open during a hot summer day can recover thousands of dollars in wasted hydro, and extend the cooling unit’s life. Sensors in the mechanical room provide the maintenance manager with important data about their

Our managed IoT service reduces complexity by providing your IoT suppliers a secure smart building network using prototals such as Zigbee and BLE. All running on top of RadiusOne’s Unified Network Backbone service. This building-wide IoT network reduces complexity, eliminates the need to build multiple IoT networks that may be incompatible, and makes installation a breeze for your other suppliers’ install teams.

PRE-INSTALL

Whether it’s a smart-building upgrade to an older property or a new build, everything begins with a plan.

We’ll assess the needs of all stakeholders - the developer, the builder, and the property manager to ensure all of their various needs are met. We then incorporate the requirements of your other vendors, ensuring there is no replication of work or equipment, and that their equipment will be securely connected.

For new builds in the pre-construction phase, we’ll work with your architects and engineers to plan cable paths, power budgets, and equipment locations.

INSTALLATION

The big day! A dedicated project manager keeps everybody in the know, while a technical manager works with the install teams on site.

By this time, our clients and their 3rd party integrators already have the plan and the network details they require to access the Unified Network Backbone as it comes online.

Our engineers install the core networking equipment in the main telecom room, and risers, while installers install and test the wireless access points throughout your building’s common areas, admin offices, hallways, and resident units. At the end of each day, our teams regroup to update progress and confirm the following day’s plan and the project manager sends an update to relevant stakeholders.

POST-INSTALL

After the wireless and wired internet service is live, RadiusOne operates as the stewards of your new Unified Network Backbone and residence internet service.

That means monitoring each network element and responding to any performance issues that arise, and providing meaningful reporting data to ensure all is working as designed.

We’ll also provide technical support directly to your residents and admin staff, and measure resident satisfaction a couple times a year to understand if the service has met the residents’ expectations and what can be improved.

Our Project Stakeholders

Property Managers

Property Managers have a million things to do and dealing with technical issues related to WiFi shouldn’t be one of them. A proactive network monitoring and resident, support helpdesk managed service they no longer need to and relieves the building operator to focus on more pressing concerns.

Property Managers appreciate a managed service that will also work with their chosen 3rd party integrators whose equipment requires secure network access— assisting with technical questions or help with troubleshooting. We encourage our clients to think of us as the IT department for their smart building.

Owners + Investors

A managed service provider should incorporate Total Cost of Ownership principles into its design philosophy, and understand the need to contain costs while maximizing ROI for its clients.

Of course, it’s not just about TCO & ROI, but also the holistic experience for a residence’s tenants.

To provide real value, and protect an owner’s investment, residence internet services must be more than ubiquitous, fast, and reliable— they must be also supported by caring, expert advisors whose goal it is to surprise and delight residents in need of help.

Builders + Architects

Overlooked details can be costly during the planning and construction phase of a residence. Architects and builders benefit from our technical guidance for building today’s highest-performing smart building networks for purpose-built apartments.

This ensures details such as proper access point placement, communications rooms, cable paths, and conduit don’t get missed on the blueprints-- critical details that, if not captured early, can result in unexpected costs, potential delays, and even detract from the building’s interior design, taking away from the original vision.
